Counselor's Corner

The guidance and counseling program is in full swing as we settle into the 2007-2008 school year. As part of our comprehensive developmental guidance program, I visit each class every other week for about a 30 minute lesson. Topics range from friendships and conflict resolution to self esteem and self awareness, and everything in between. Sometimes students may need more specific support than what is provided in the classroom guidance lessons. Any child may sign up to see me using the red notes in their classroom. Students come to talk to me about everything from concerns with friends or homework, to parents' divorcing, and any other problem that may arise. Parents and teachers may also refer students to me for either individual or group counseling. Due to the large number of students I see, both formally and informally, I don't always call parents after every visit. Please know that I will call you if the need arises or if there is something important you should know. Please feel free to always call me if you have a concern or questions about this process.
